Awesomic journey: From swear word to brand tattoos with Stacy Pavlyshyna
Hey guys! In this issue I want to share with you the first interview of the Brand Boost Podcast!
My guest is Stacy Pavlyshyna, the co-founder of Awesomic, Y Combinator S'21 alum, and Forbes 30 under 30 rockstarš.
We talked about some wild stuff, like:
- How to name your brand with a swear word and still get investors on board
- Using Tinder to nail your investor pitch
- Why being boring is a big no-no for startups
- The crazy story of getting company logo tattoos
- When to start thinking about your startup's brand (hint: it's earlier than you think!)
- The one piece of advice for people who want to build a brand
Stacy had so many great things to say, and the energy was AWESOMIC!
Here are 7 key takeaways from our talk:
Authenticity is key when building a brand. Founders should express themselves and their company's values to connect with their audience on a human level.
Brand building isn't just for big companies. Even early-stage startups should think about their brand and how they want to be perceived, as it helps differentiate them in the market.
A brand should grow and evolve with the company. Awesomic's rebranding from Pizdata reflected their maturation as a company and aligned with their premium product offerings.
Storytelling is a powerful tool for brand building. Putting together special stories about the founders and how the company started can make a brand easy to remember.
Metrics for brand success can be qualitative, such as customer feedback and how people describe the brand.
The brand of a VC firm matters to founders. It shows what the firm believes in, its reputation, and how it helps the companies it invests in.
Strong brand makes marketing easier. It gives a base for making content, products, and events that match the company's identity.
Behind the scenes: When things can go wrong, they often do!
In the past few weeks, I've been figuring out all the techie stuff for our podcastā lights, sound, editing, and posting.
Even though we double-checked everything and thought it was good, our equipment decided to act up during the episode. But it was still fun to share the first interview with Stacy. We laughed and talked while trying to fix our tech problems.
